No Bake Muesli Slice



One of our household favorites, easy to make and you can get the kids involved in the process. I know it is convenient to buy ready-made muesli bars however seeing every ingredient go into the mix is a good thing to know exactly what they are eating.

Ingredients:

2 Cups of your choice of muesli (sometimes children don’t like the dried fruit in them so you can even choose oats to be plain) We always use an non toasted one and it does have sultanas and raisins.

¼ Cup of Pepita Seeds- packed full of healthy fats and protein also filled with beneficial vitamins and minerals like iron, zinc, manganese, phosphorous and magnesium.

¼ Cup of Sunflower Seeds- again lots of healthy fats, rich in antioxidants and also has iron, magnesium and zinc.

You can add in chia seeds, cashews, almonds really anything that you like 

½ Cup of Honey or Maple Syrup- We used honey in ours

185g of Melted Butter- You could also try using nut butter or tahini

Method:

Combine all your dry ingredients first and mix around well.

Stir in the melted butter and the honey, these bind it together.

It is a very sticky mix.

Line your tin with baking paper to make it easy to lift out once it is set.

You can use any shape or container.

Fold in the mix to the container and press down evenly- little tip if its slightly thicker it will stay together better than being spread out sparsely.

Put into freezer for 2-3 hours (fridge also works)

Once your mix is set you can take out of freezer and cut it into squares

Your kids will love them, and best of all you know you are giving them a nutritious snack  Next time you make a batch try with nut butter or tahini for even more added nutrition!!
